Your Job is an Extension of God’s Creativity

Anytime we can display the glory of God in our lives to the world around us, we are honoring God. But did you realize that by representing God in the culture, you are also being obedient to His command to go and make disciples of the nations? Your work may not seem like a big deal in the grand scheme of things. It may not seem to be as exciting as a missions trip to a foreign land. But it can be.

You see, it is a matter of perspective. So often our work begins to feel rote and repetitious. It is not at all uncommon for people who excel in their careers to experience a lull. But when we consider that our work is a gift from God, and through it He provides for us, helps us to grow in ways we could never imagine, and influence the world around us, we gain a new perspective. Every time we set out to do our jobs we come to a crucial fork in the road. Do we continue down one path that is mundane and seemingly pointless? Or, do we go down the path of thinking that today is a new day and one that the LORD has made!

The truth is that every time we put our hands to the proverbial plow we are using the gifts and talents the LORD has bestowed upon us to create something that is a worthy offering to Him. That’s right! We have been given the privilege of creating things. You may not be a “creative person” in the artsy sense, but regardless of what you do for a living you are creating something new. If you are a business owner, you are creating opportunities for yourself, your employees and the community around you. You are creating products or services that impact others. You may not be the boss where you work, but you are still in the creative mix by contributing your talents and gifts to the job. We all work and the fruit of our labor is a job well done. But more than just a pat on the back or a paycheck, our work is a representation of a magnificent Creator.

At HalStruc, our prayer for you today is that you will rejoice in Him and be glad in the day He has richly blessed us with. Whatever you create today, let it bring Him honor and glory.
